This scene from Iron Man is compelling, but more importantly, that is conveyed to the audience using video techniques. On my first watch, I focused on the video techniques and watched it without any audio. The first thing I noticed was the use of the long shot in the opening of the scene where you can see Tony Stark through the crowd of all the reporters at the press conference this is important because it has the viewer feel how crowded the room is for this press conference. The next technique used is how many times the camera switches the view, just in this 90-second clip, the view changes 12 times between Mr.Stark and the reporters. This again helps the viewer feel the anticipation that Mr.Stark is feeling and gives the viewer a glimpse of what Mr. Stark is facing and what he looks like as he is addressing such a serious matter.
On my second view of this scene, I focused on the audio and did not watch what was happening in the scene. The first thing I noticed was the sound of the cameras clicking which again helps the the viewer feel the anticipation and nervousness that Mr. Stark is feeling. Then, when Mr. Stark admits he is Iron Man there is a ton that happens audibly. The viewer can hear the gasps, and camera shutters going, instant chatter, and then it cuts to the credits and a song. This helps the viewer feel the chaos that he just caused and was a really strong move by the creators of the scene.
On my final view of the scene, I watched it as a whole with both the audio and video. The thing that stuck out to me most when watching the scene as a whole was the very end where Mr. Starl admits he is Ironman. The combination of the quick change to animation the drawing of Ironman and the suspenseful superhero music leaves the viewer feeling content with the ending, and the music helps the viewer be less surprised by the abruptness. This is already a pivotal movement in the movie, and the conclusion of it all, and it was very important that it was done correctly, and it was done flawlessly.
