Anna never imagined that her days abroad in Chile would land her on the pages of Vogue. It all started when Anna posted a photo of herself in a colorful Valparaíso alley, wearing a flowy linen pants and a black linen tank top she’d picked up at a local artisan fair. The vibrant street art behind her caught the attention of a Vogue Chile editor, who invited her to participate in a feature about international students embracing local culture.
Her photo took place in Barrio Italia, a charming neighborhood of vintage shops, cafés, and cobblestone streets. She noticed the sweet aroma of fresh ice cream drifting from Helados Don Felipe, a tiny family-run shop. She took a break and went in for a scoop of icecream.
Anna chatted with the owner, Felipe and he told her they struggled to compete with larger chains. Anna had an amazing idea to feauture Helados Don Felipe‘s signature flavors in her shoot, showcasing Chilean traditions with Vouge’s high fashion. The editor loved it. Months later, back in Virginia, Anna smiled as she scrolled through Helados Don Felipe‘s Instagram. Their tagline now read: “Tradición con estilo, con sabor a Chile” (Tradition with style, with the flavor of Chile).
